So, I’m pretty sure this is how the majority of my posts are going to be. If nothing of monumental importance is happening that I absolutely must get it down on paper (or “down on screen” I guess I should say), I’m going to just jot down random thoughts, and notes about Jiujitsu, as well as random thoughts about jiujitsu or whatever over combination you can think of.
So, I’m in a pretty morose mood today, so this should be pretty short. On tuesdy, my instrucer pointed out that I had started keeping my weight too elevated in the side control position. I had my knee on his belly, when it should have been on the mat. I shall kep that in mind for tomorrow, there were several over control issues as well (I should start controlling the new guys more) rather than practicing sweeps. I did get pretty annoyed that my instructer kept telling me to change the position of my arm when I was going of a choke. I can’t rightly say “Hey, that’s not what I’m trying to do. I’m going for a choke”, because then the guy on the bottom knows it and can get out of it, which is kinda the opposite of good stratigy.
I do need to start paying attention to where the other guy’s balance is. I was trying a sitout armbar…thing (yes, for all you know, that’s what it’s called.) for about 12 seconds Tuesday before I realized I was doing it on the wrong side. Really, I need to tighten my technique in general.
Sunday was an awesome Jiujitsu day. Definitely the best since I got back. I learned quite a bit for one class, and I actually pulled off the reverse triangle on teusday. Of course only me and my partner saw it…
Okay, Wednesday was exceptionally brutal. I don’t know if I was tired for the day before or because I was in a bad mood, but I barely made it through my last circuit (kicks) without passing out. My technique was completely off, I felt like I was hitting with just my arms, my hands where down…it was just bad.
Just randomly throwing this in; I need to work on my posture too. I think that may be part of the problem.
Also, that scarf-hold to Brabo choke is something I should start practicing more. Need to remember to get my elbow to the mat!
